Today at 07:05 AM Does duct tape cure warts? by Nae

There is no way I am reading this one to Mr. W., who is never without one or 2 rolls just sitting around waiting for something to ... cure smile

Quote:
Does Duct Tape Get Rid of Warts?
There is one more wart treatment that has gained notoriety and has caused controversy: duct tape. In 2002, a paper was published that suggested using silver duct tape on warts was actually significantly more effective than freezing them. News of this spread, and soon many were wearing silver shiny patches on their skin. The treatment goes as follows:

1.
Cover the wart with duct tape and leave in place for 6 days.
2.
Remove the tape on the 7th day, soaking the area of the wart and removing dead skin with a pumice stone or emery board.
3.
Leave the duct tape off for the whole 7th day.
4.
Reapply for another 6 days, repeating the cycle until the wart is gone.

This method of wart removal was cheap, easy, and appealed to us men who are genetically predisposed to a belief that duct tape can fix anything. Subsequent studies, however, were not able to verify this effectiveness, and so the validity was called into question (obviously by a bunch of women). Yet there were differences in the duct tape used in the follow-up studies, as the tape used had a different type of adhesive and so may have negated the positive effect.
All in all, the treatment with duct tape is worth trying, although I suggest using a skin-colored tape, or covering the skin with a bandage. By the way, duct tape is also quite useful in dealing with that annoying relative that won’t leave.

Yesterday at 04:24 PM consider the pion MT or ME by drussell52

Hi all,
I just finished a rather difficult shift and hope to go spend some time viewing the Fox News when getting this done and looking at the OT posts for fun. I work for a national service, am sight impaired, and they continue to implement programs and utilize software that don't seem to consider those of us who are sightless. Sadly, there is one support person who is qualified to work with us who use screen reading software and any related issues go to him alone.
May he live long! Most of us with challenges are willing to rise to the occasion, but in the last year it seems like the implementations have been coming fast and furious: time card system changed, new way to file work orders just instituted, new way to satisfy work schedule went into effect last Spring, and new version of DQScribe expected in the near future. Ouch. Is there a advocacy within this industry that is able to help guide decisions when a major service decides to invest in new implemntations that really don't seem to help the convenience of doing business?
Honestly, going to work each day as I near 59-years-old in this profession is becoming quite challenging. Morale is somewhat low friends. I participate on another group that is designed for sight impaired MTs who work for said company and many of us are rather frustrated.
Help please.
David

08/31/10 08:21 PM S/L *internaca? convulsions (child with epilepsy) by ozgal

Patient is 6-year-old female.

Beneath "Diagnoses" heading, doctor dictates:

Dominant infantile epilepsy syndrome of what s/l *internaca? convulsions choreoathetosis cardiac murmur, innocent.

I have extensive MT experience but alas not with cardiology.

If anyone can shed light on the above, I'd be ever so grateful.

Many thanks.

08/31/10 03:15 PM Any advice for choosing a new employer? by Valiant88

TIA in advance! I have been trying to weigh my pros and cons between SoftScript and MD-IT. I have job offers with both for full time work.

I have spent a couple hours looking at MTstars posts on SoftScript both good and bad and all the way back to 2006! I also know that there are trolls and spies on that 'forum' and frankly I don't know what to believe.

I would appreciate any input on either company. ESLs don't scare me as I know they are a part of our job laugh SoftScript say they are 35% ESL and I know MD-IT has its fair share of ESLs also.

I am normally good at making these kinds of decisions but I was also offered a job with MedScribe and when I told him I had job offers with the other 2 companies he proceeded to bad mouth SoftScribe!

Help a fellow MT out please! and thanks again smile
