Our private message boards are down temporarily. We had a major problem last night. It wasn't anything malicious, but it was caused by an outside source who made a very simple mistake. It's going to take a major effort for our own technical staff to clean up after that company's error and cleanup is underway. We regret the inconvenience and will get the boards up as soon as possible.

We also have no e-mail at the moment. Working on it.

We're making progress.

Some of you have asked by phone what to do about your assignments. We know you can't send them at right now, so we'll post here and on Facebook AND on our instructional message boards as soon as they are back up.

By the way, anyone is welcome on the Facebook page, whether you are an Andrews student/graduate or not. It's open to everyone.

E-mail is back.

Instructional message boards are on the way back. Fortunately we have backups and won't lose as much as we would have otherwise.

I have forgotten my password, so even though the Main Board over there appears to be up, {shrug} I can't get in, and I don't want to disturb Steve or Glenda while they are working on it.

It's okay for people to post here. I see that lots of people are reading but nobody is talking. I am beginning to feel like I am talking to myself. Oh well!

Sorry you are having trouble on the message boards. I wondered what was going on when I tried to check it this morning.

I'm glad to know that the boards are being worked on, and that there is a place like MT Chat where you can announce what's going on!

EDITED TO SAY THAT I SPOKE TOO QUICKLY. THE MAIN BOARD ISN'T BACK YET AND NEITHER ARE THE OTHERS. I'LL REPORT BACK WHEN I HAVE MORE INFORMATION. WE DO HAVE E-MAIL.

The Main Board is back and we didn't lose too much from there. The Transcription and Coding Boards are loading. There is so much on those that it's going to take more time.

We have backups, but just not for the changes we made last week.

Speaking of changes, by the way, you'll be the first to know. We have always had 3 modules. Soon we're going to break it up into 4 modules. Isn't THAT going to be fun. It's going to be confusing during the transition. That probably won't happen until June though, so keep it a secret.

I get a blank page when going to the main board. Is it just me?

We are finally getting closer to having the problem fixed, but unfortunately, it is going to take more time.

The boards are back. Some of you have already discovered that because you got there in the middle of the night! <grin> I am on my way over to the boards to see what kind of clean-up needs to be done. I know we're back to an older copy of the boards, so we've lost things we'll need to put back. Thank you so much everyone, for your patience and , what is it that we work at constantly at The Andrews School? FLEXIBILITY! Each and every one of you has demonstrated that you've got that one.

If you enrolled after the board recovery date OR if you changed your profile, added Grad or Grad Mentor, etc., you're missing. Glenda is working as fast as she can to put everyone back in. Rather than calling or e-mailing her, would you give it a few hours and try again. Then write to me this afternoon if you still aren't back on and I'll give her a list. That way she won't have hundreds of e-mail messages. Thanks!

Poor Glenda and Steve!! They must be going crazy.

The Transcription board is fixed. Now Glenda is working tonight to put people back in the system. She may not get totally finished and will do the rest tomorrow.

Transcription Board broke down again. Steve is on his way to see what's going on with it.

UPDATE: Steve is almost to the point where he wants to start from scratch and leave that board as 'Read Only' but he's just thinking out loud at this point. All he did last night was back up that board and he's not happy that it couldn't withstand being backed up. The board is still there, but it won't allow any new messages to be posted. We could (He could) fix it again, but if it's that unstable, he doesn't think it's worth it and wants to start over.

I'll be back to report more as there is anything to report.

UPDATE FOR ANDREWS STUDENTS AND GRADUATES: Steve is going to try something. It's rather extreme and could blow up all the boards, so go copy anything you may need in the next couple of days, in case we have to build new boards from our notes. Glenda and I will be doing the same thing. We have about an hour.

Thanks! This is a new one for us. We're going to refer to it as the Great Board Crash (GBC) of 2010.

Students and graduates can do anything on the boards right now except post new messages on the Medical Transcription Board. It still won't let you do that. You can post on the Main Board though and/or the Coding Board. We'll probably let it stay this way for a few days before deciding exactly what we want to do.
