Hello! I didn't want to resurrect the other Wii Fit thread but wanted to inform the curious (missp is one, I believe?) that I got my Wii Fit yesterday and it's cool :o). I stayed up after work waiting for the UPS guy and played it as soon as I got it unpacked. I was concerned about being able to do it because I have an illness that impairs my balance but so far the only thing I have a problem with is the tightrope walking (I fell between the buildings!) and putting all my weight on my heels.
Setting up, the Wii Fit calculates height, weight, BMI, and has you to set a goal. It's really cool and you don't have to run to the scales and then back to the Wii Fit since it weighs you. You can create a password so no one else can see your info.
I tried the push-ups (ha!) and halfway through I got tired and my "trainer" asked me if I had let my hips drop! I was like, how do you know?! It's very smart and one fine piece of equipment. I'm sure it'll keep my interest much longer than Richard Simmons or Core Rhythms. I just thought I'd share!

We got one on Sunday and I am already addicted. Mind you, I have a very competitive nature and my competitors are two 16-year-old soccer players. Going up against those 2 will either make me the fittest mom on the planet or it will kill me.

Ooo...I want one so bad! I heard you can get quite a workout on it. I'm trying to pass it off as a gift for the kids (for Christmas, maybe), but I really just want it for myself!

Lol, JustJ :o). I tried the soccer heading and I can manage getting whacked in the head with shoes! I'm already sore from doing the yoga and hula hoop! As long as I keep both feet on the board I'm good to go!
Shelly, I have no children, it's just me and my mom so everyone knows I wanted it! I found a good deal on E-bay and paid a bit less than what it's going for in stores. I, personally, think it's a good investment; I'm getting Mom to work out for 10 minutes a day and I'm enjoying it immensely already.

Hey Ambeck, thanks a lot! I am still thinking about getting it, but I wanted to make sure that all the good things I have been hearing about it weren't just a bunch of sales hype before I sank that much money into it.

Well, I've had it for almost a month and I still play it daily, missp! I'm loving the yoga; there are only a couple I can't do by myself and have to use the bar stool for stability. The strength training is fun except the push ups!
I have conquered the soccer heading thing and table tilt and hula hoops; that opened up the Advanced option and Super Hula Hoop so that means more fun!
I still think it's worth the money I paid and I *heard* some celebrity trainer is working on a Wii Fit workout game.

It sounds like a lot of fun! However I would be interested to know if it actually improves a person's stamina, balance, muscle tone, etc. I have a huge amount of weight I need to lose. I am not under the delusion that Wii Fit is some "magic bullet" for losing weight, but it will be interesting to see how it benefits people in the long run.

The game itself would not increase anyone's stamina, balance, muscle tone, etc. The person does that by exercising. The game console is only the 'guide', like a much more interactive exercise video. The person still has to have the willpower to use it.

I am about a month in and I do 15-20 minutes cardio, 10 minutes strength, and 5-10 minutes balance each day. I wasn't looking to lose weight, but I have dropped 3 pounds. Things that didn't used to feel tight now feel much tighter, which was my goal. As I posted above, I am competitive to a fault and I will not let my kid or his friends beat me. I have found the most strenuous activity to be the advanced rhythm boxing.
