I have always typed iliofemoral and was told it was ileofemoral, but cannot find that anywhere. Ilio relates to the bone while ileo relates to the ileum. I have done a poll of several transcriptionists and half type it one way and the other the other way.

Hi Sharon! I have an easy way to remember ilio or ileo.
Ileus - bowel obstruction. The "e" is squiggly like a wrapped up intestine. If it is abdominal, use ileo.
Ilium - Is part of the hip bone. The "i" is straight like a bone, so use it when referring to bones.
Now, you could not have a bowel obstruction connected to the femur, so it must be the "ilio".
There is an artery that runs in that area of that area that is the iliofemoral artery that the provider is referring to.

Sorry, we must have posted at the same time. I see you already know this stuff. I would ask the person telling you that it is ileo to show you where they found it. If they are correcting you, they need to show you reference. They need to prove you are in error if they are correcting you. Sorry about the long explanation above!
