Start-Stop Foot Pedal: Have you upgaded to 9.8.6?

Yesterday, I downloaded the upgrade to version 9.8.6, and now my pedal won't play .wav files, though mp3 files work fine. The only way to get the .wav files to play is to manually move the time bar down a few seconds, which makes the bar automatically jump back to the beginning of the file. If I don't do that, it sort of freezes up, as if it is downloading a really long file, but never finishes.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what was your solution? I have emailed and called the HTH Tech Support line, with absolutely no response.
TIA for any ideas you might have!

BTW, I have the three-pedal USB SSTS Universal System.
Thanks!
PS to my BTW: I am tempted to uninstall the entire thing and reload my original outdated installation disk. Has anyone tried this? Has it helped?

If you have a Windows system, I would first try System Restore. (The path in XP is: Start Button -- All Programs -- Accessories -- System Tools.) You might be able to restore your system to a time before you updated your driver.
If that fails, you might be able to "uninstall the entire thing" and then restart your computer. If Windows recognizes your pedal, it might load the correct driver for it.
My third choice would be yours: uninstall and re-install from the original installation disk. While I have not done that with a foot pedal, I have done that with many other devices.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I finally got in touch with Tech Support. It seems that their update server was screwed up and sending out corrupted update files, so he sent me a completely new program file. So at least I have the program running.
Unfortunately, in the new version (9.8.7) they removed one of my favorite hot key functions. I actually did go back and uninstall the new program, and reinstalled the prior version, just to get my hot key back again, but no dice...it doesn't work in that version anymore either.
*sigh*
ETA: MTMagic -- Thanks for the restore idea. I forgot all about that. I'll have to make a note of that for the next "upgrade."

Before I upgrade, what hot key function did they do away with? I may not mess with a good thing and just stay where I am. Oh my Gosh! I just checked and I'm running 9.7.5. Oh well, it works great and no problems, but before I do anything would like to know more.

Carolyn: I had customized the playback hot keys to use SHIFT-END to automatically return the playback speed to normal (100%). In the new version, there was not a choice for END. When I asked about it, the tech guy told me they were having lots of problems with the playback hot keys conflicting with MS Word. They have a few options there for customization, but I couldn't get any of them to work. (Go to Configure - Hot Keys - Systemwide Keys for Playback Control from the main SS screen.)
I use the "thin" screen size, so it doesn't show the little blue 100% box for easy clicking.
Anyhoo, the tech guy told me that this issue was currently in testing and should hopefully be resolved and released in a near-future upgrade.
My advice to you...it yours ain't broke, I wouldn't recommend fixin' it!

I've been doing just fine with my older version. Think I'll take your advice and keep on keepin' on. GOOD LUCK. I have had experience with SS for over 10 years (you may have the same) but I have always found their support and engineering people to be really good. They worked mostly with my husband and I only was aware of the outcome, but it never seemed to take too long.
It would really be great if you could keep us updated on the progress and when yours is fixed, I may upgrade then if you are satisfied. Would 'preciate it.

This may be a good example that sotware, like middle-managers, are subject to the Peter Principle, wherein all things on the way up the ladder eventually are promoted to a point just past their ideal usage.

Trops, you are so right in this case. In fact, I "demoted" my version back down to my last properly-working version -- 9.8.3.
Carolyn: Since I answered your questions, I had even more problems. When playing an mp3 file on a speed faster than 100%, the file would just cut off at the end. I finally gave up and called Tech Support AGAIN. You are right about their fast service this time. The guy immediately sent me out the newest new version, which I downloaded, and which caused the same problem, and still didn't fix my hot key problem.
So, I crossed my fingers, uninstalled the new version, and reinstalled back to the one I was using before I started this whole mess. By some absolute miracle, my hot key worked again (I swear it did not the other day, but I was desperate to fix my fast-speed issue, and was willing to live without it!) and everything is all good now. I turned off my "Automatic Updates" option, and will happily stay with this version for good!
Thanks for the help, everyone.

Shelly_m, Has been a few days since I've been on the site, but glad you are going again, even if it took some gyrations. I'm hanging where I am until further notice.
