Hi all, I'm asking that everyone keep my co-worker's neice, Namine (nom-i-nay) in their prayers. She was born a little early last week and has multiple issues. She is undergoing heart surgery this morning at 7:30 to correct a major valve defect. She was just under 5 pounds when she was born, and the docs are really concerned that she may not be strong enough to survive this surgery. She was also born with a cleft palate (but not lip or jaw, which is good), a pelvic abnornmality which I cannot remember the name of but it caused her hips to not form the leg sockets, and her lower legs never really developed properly which also caused her to have club feet. She is an absolutely beautiful baby with the sweetest face. Ya just can't help but go AWWWWWWW!!

This is her family blog...http://namineolivia.blogspot.com/

Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Vernondi, I have a friend whose baby was born almost 3 months early. She could fit in the palm of your hand. She had some issues at first too, but is now 3 years old and, although tiny and still receiving therapy, is a bundle of joy and energy. She was a "spokesbaby" for the March of Dimes locally this year. There are some great strides being made in the care of these preemies. I hope and pray for the best for your co-worker's niece.

I will be praying for your co-worker's family. It's hard to see things like that happen to someone so little and helpless.

An update from their family blog...Namine didn't have surgery today...here is what her dad wrote...

The doctors discovered a hole in her throat, caused by the high pressure from the air tube. It is infected, but they are confident that she will heal quickly. Since she needs help getting air, they have intibated her (they have put the air tube all the way down into her airway, instead of just past the obstruction of her tongue). The doctors have rescheduled Namine's heart surgery for Monday morning, but of course this also depends on how quickly her throat heals.

To this I say that I believe God decided she wasn't strong enough for the surgery today and wanted to give her more time. So, please continue to keep this family in your prayers...I know they are greatly appreciated!!
