Hello,
I just signed up at M-Tec, and I am very excited. I already have a certificate in medical transcription obtained through a community college, but I was unable to find a job. The course work at the college was really good, but the transcription part wasn't so good. We had to transcribe only 40 reports which is not enough.
I have worked only a couple of month doing radiology transcription (helping out another MT), but I had to give up this job because we moved.
I don't have enough confidence to take tests right now, and I want to further my education; therefore, I signed up at M-Tec.
English is my second language, so I hope I do well on the transcription part.
Thanks for listening
Snowdog

Welcome, and best wishes on your new studies. I think you'll be glad that you made the investment in a better school.

Hi to All
Thank you so much for having this forum available, it offers great insight into your world which I hope to be a part of soon. However, I am confused(happens a lot) Are Andrews and M-Tec truly the only schools one should attend? What about the SUM program via CHI, Modesto, CA.? Really need to know. Also, is this field any harder than others as far as breaking into? Some of the comments are a bit overwhelming and frightening. Does M-Tec and Andrews help with job placement? Hope to hear some replies. P.S. My first time in a chat room be gentle.....

Are Andrews and M-Tec truly the only schools one should attend? Yes.
What about the SUM program via CHI, Modesto, CA.? Really need to know. Do some research. See how often that program is recommended by people in this business, especially as compared to Andrews and M-TEC.
Also, is this field any harder than others as far as breaking into? That depends on where you get your education. Just keep researching.
Gentle enough?

Yes, M-TEC will help you with job placement. They maintain an amazing list of jobs which is updated almost daily. As a graduate, I receive an average of 4 or 5 emails a week from M-TEC with new job listings from companies who will hire M-TEC grads and many of those companies are willing to waive the 2 years of experience that are required of graduates from other programs. I am sure that the Andrews grads experience the same job placement support that I have found with M-TEC.
Good luck to you. Lynda
