In response to your question on your post "people can't be this stupid," Oh yes they can. DH is an ex-cop. He worked for the county sheriff's dept. As an elected official, the sheriff had to have his deputies respond to ANY 911 call no matter what it was. DH responded to a bat in the house, leaking water pipes, a kid who wouldn't take his medication, a guy who threw a fully decorated Christmas tree out his front door and a host of others.
According to a recent report, our 911 system was bombarded by calls this spring from people who called in to tell them we'd had an earthquake. Actually we have had an ongoing *swarm* of them in my immediate area since February, but the worst came in April, with one shaking the whole city, and then again in June. We were getting 30-60 on average a day, with 164 the highest. And they had to call 911 to let *them* know after one would occur! Can you imagine?
