I posted this topic some time ago and got a great response from everyone. There's something about making interesting or even silly (or vulgar) shortcuts to brighten up the day, especially when the old workload gets a bit heavy.
I've been working recently in radiology and have been busy creating my own shortcuts. For some reason "pud" (peptic ulcer disease) cracks me up every time. But my favorite, and one of my own creations, is "tata", which expands to "The aorta is tortuous from arteriosclerosis." Yes, I'm aware I have a sick sense of humor.
Any other favorites out there?

I work mostly in urology, and I have a few vulgar shortcuts. I am not quite sure if I can post them though.

Two docs I worked for some years back are still in my shortcuts as "thing1" and "thing2".

I use those too. I also love "caca" for "cardiac catheterization."

I have a very forceful-voiced doc whodictates progress notes on ICU trauma patients, so his code is BOMBPN (yes, his name starts with BOMB, but it also reflects his style)

Fogy for Fogarty catheter, so when I "acquired" a lousy dictator by that name, he became DRFOGY.

Why did that make me immediately think of "Calling Dr. Bombay, calling Dr. Bombay, emergency, come right away!" LOL (Samantha Stevens from Bewitched, for the youngsters here.)

Somehow I don't think he fits the role--the trauma doc, that is.

But I certainly remember Dr. Bombay.

*this isn't an MT short, but was done at the clinic I work for* and is still funny (I think)

On the schedule that was printed out for the day the receptionist shortened FollowUp CheK UP
*the bold letters were all that were on the schedule*
needless to say, we corrected it and reprinted before it got to the nurse's station for the doc to see!
