Hi,

I am a relatively new MT who has been working for a local cardiology clinic for the past 15 months. I really enjoy the work and the company is great to work for. I am working 6 1/2 days a week because the clinic is extremely busy at this time and we are trying to get caught up. The question I have is with the number of hours that I am working I might get burned out quickly but I need the money. What is the going rate for MTs at this time. I am averaging 8500 65 character lines per week.

I would appreciate any feedback you could give me.

As has been said many, many times, Partsman, there simply is no 'going rate'.

Partsman, perhaps you you would care to share your line rate before asking others to share theirs?

Also, you said, "I really enjoy the work and the company is great to work for." If you look at a number of the postings here, you will find many others wish they had that kind of work environment.

I think they are asking about how many lines you do a week, not how much for a line.

If I do 40 hours a week I can do about 10,000 but I have done more if I log out to look up every single blank.

8500 isn't really a lot for a 6-1/2 day week, but considering your education was at Allied you probably have to look a lot of things up.

Are you making good use of an expander?

Partman, are you wondering if you are being paid fairly? Hope this helps. It's been my experience that the going rate is anywhere between 0.075/line to 0.085/line working for services. Obviously as an independent contractor working on your own for a practice, pays a little more and at least where I am in Florida, is 0.10/line-0.12/line. Hopefully you find yourself somewhere in there. I've also noticed that the rate of pay will vary based on the amount of experience.
