Is there chance MT service will reinstate me?

I am new to MT Chat but not knew to being an MT. I have been an MT - independent contractor - for 9 years. I recently started working for a service and was working great on my primary account. My last quality review a few weeks ago indicated that I was at just above 98% and they said keep up the good work. However, my primary account left the service (they didn't want to pay the service what they were paying) and I was assigned to a new account. I was having slight difficulty getting up to 98% on this new account after 1 week and they put me on probation and I was getting 3-4 reports a day. On my last 7 reports I scored 100. The last batch they sent yesterday I averaged 96.4. Some of the errors related to me hearing something close but just a little different than what the QA person said the provider dictated. I don't think I should be let go because I'm still learning the provider speech patterns, etc. Anyway, I have asked them to reconsider. Do you think there is a chance they will? I'm devastated and would love another chance. I know I can do the work within there quality range. Also, I guess ultimately, do I stand a chance of working for anyone else?

Well, it depends on what you were hearing "a little bit different." If was a medication, med dose, disease, lab, or lab value, "a little different" is quite critical, but at 96.4, it doesn't sounds like it's excessive. If they were little hearing errors (a instead of the, for example), then I wouldn't think you should be let go. You may need to clarify with the employer for more information. If you are where you are supposed to be when you're supposed to be there, do basically quality work (which it sounds like you do), then there's something missing.

Thanks Donna...I guess my confidence is a little rattled and I had invested so much time and effort learning the services platform and protocols, I really hate the thought of starting somewhere new. I haven't heard back from them so I'm sure there isn't a chance they will take me back. I'll have to just take this as a lesson learned and move on.

Girl.....just move on and don't look back! There are a jillion companies out there just waiting for you! Don't be intimidated by that! You've been an MT for so long. You have done it, you obviously know what you're doing, so go get ya another job! YOU CAN DO IT!

Thanks so much for the boost of confidence. I did send my resume to a few of the postings in the classified thread here on mtchat.com and have already had a couple responses so I am feeling a little better going into a new work week and hopefully by the end of the week I will be working again.
