I read the article in Matrix by George Catuogno - The New MTIA.
The first paragraph really grabbed my attention. Yes, my business is not blazing trails or setting trends in the medical transcription industry, and I cannot state with absolute confidence that my business will continue to prosper into the future. Then the "New MTIA" is for me? I was really paying attention now. Could it be that MTIA might want me as a member now - finally?
Further down the page -- yes, it was well-known that MTIA was geared toward large MTSOs and certainly not my little business. I work by myself and for myself with about $45,000 income per year. I have to figure out things large service owners have to figure out, just on a much smaller scale. Could it really be that The New MTIA might want me as a member now - finally?
I finished reading the article. It ended with "The New MTIA is about strength in numbers. Won't you join us today?"
I checked the MTIA website and checked the membership categories. No, I still don't fit in the general membership category. $300,000 is the bottom annual revenue allowed for general membership. I guess I could join as an associate non-voting member, but I have no idea what that will do for me. I could not find a list of membership benefits. An associate membership is $320 a year. The bottom general membership category ($300,000 to $350,000 annual revenue) is $325 with voting rights.

Why would you pay money to be a non-voting member? IMO, the only reason for joining MTIA would be to make yourself and your opinions count. You don't get that if you can't vote.
