I am a newbie and I have been taking online tests for applications. I have a question, When the Dr. is listing a series of medications and does not add "mg" after the dose, should I flag this? Or can I add this on my own, especially if I know it should be there.

I would just transcribe it as dictated. For instance, Lasix 40 daily. Although you may think you know the units of measurement, you may be wrong. However, if the doctor dictates Lasix 40 mcg, then you should flag it even if you are very sure it should be mg.
Of course, that practice might be different depending upon your employer. I had personally been changing it - for instance when Synthroid is dictated 75 mg instead of mcg, but my employer issued an e-mail stating that is the doctor's responsibility and we should flag it. Might not be true for all employers.
Wow. The world is truly different. In 15 years of transcribing, I have never heard of adding mg to dosage if not dictated. If you start second-guessing physicians, you are definitely setting yourself up for serious trouble. My opinion.
I have a quick question, doc says Procrit 40,000 units q. weekly....can't use the q. so do I enter it once weekly, 1 time every week, or just a simple every week?? I know what I have done in the past, but of course second guessing myself now?
