There is nowhere else I can post this and so I will post this here.

It was a hard day--25 dictations from one dictator that everybody wanted to avoid. After every report, I cursed the monitor in front of me in every language that I knew and rejoiced that I had scored a point over the MD.

The last report was particularly awful with corrections made every two minutes, and though the dictation was clear, I managed to upload the report after my mandatory abuse directed towards the innocent computer monitor.

At the very end of the last report, the learned and aged MD (I could find out his details from the Net--his son works as an MD in the same hospital) said, "Thank you for your patience, transcriptionist, with these hodgepodge dictations. Please make them look good. Thank you."

I felt like nothing on earth and my face went as red (if it is possible for a brown face to go red) as a beetroot. My conscience gave me a withering look and I apologized to the monitor in front of me.

God Bless Minnesota.

We all need a good dose of humble pie occasionally. I usually have 1 or 2 ugly runt lambs that keep me from getting too uppity and feeling like I am the perfect little shepherdess.

Hope you have a good day, Harry.

I know what you mean, Harry. I used to complain about one of my PAs. She could barely put two words together and I always had to reword what she said just so it would make sense. When I finally met her, she hugged me and thanked me for making her look good. Boy did I feel like a jerk.

Yup, I know what you mean. When I first started working as an IC, the biggest pain-in-the-patoot dictator I'd ever had played a big part in helping me get other clients via word of mouth because I "made him sound so good." Quick lesson in humility. That, and the time I asked him how racemic epinephrine worked in a newborn, and he sat down and gave me a physiology lesson. Whew!! He may have sounded like an idjit on tape, but he was NOT, that's for sure!!
