I wanted to just update this as this morning in my email I received something called the "Association Update: What You need to know."
I am assuming it is the BOD blast that Jacque was referring to so perhaps that means I will also be receiving whatever that equivalent of that HOD blast thingy is too
I can't share much detail from this particular email (and it really did have lots of information in it about what the organization is doing) due to that copyright notice at the bottom. Best I can do is to share bits and snippets.
We’re involved in the development of Benchmark KB, the knowledge base portal for MTs to have virtually every possible resource at their fingertips via the Internet.
I could be mistaken, but it was my general impression that this is a software program that students and people who work for corporate members of AHDI will have access to only if the school and/or the company/institution buys it from AHDI.
We think we should have a say in formats for document types, thus our participation in the CDA4CDT (architecture of report types). We think we should be able to advise dictators on why clear dictation is a reasonable expectation and how they can help us create the highest quality documentation possible. So we have a Dictation Best Practices Tool Kit.
We are constantly on the look out for other ways to influence the future of healthcare documentation and the workforce that loves it. Don’t be surprised if you soon see an effort to document numerically how many times a day MTs clarify inaccurate dictation, which will further corroborate the quality assurance we bring to the process. Or a study on necessary and unnecessary blanks in documentation and their effect on the timeline of information availability for patient care. Or a training course in speech recognition editing. Or, as is currently kicking around one of the discussion groups, a "virtual" major meeting.
There is actually a whole lot more, and some of it pretty darn interesting, but I am just feeling a bit too snarky this morning to trust myself to continue quoting out of context in a neutral enough manner that would be useful for nonmembers. I did ask this morning if the organization has put this document on the AHDI website somewhere so that nonmembers could access and read it, but was told there are no plans to put this newsletter on the AHDI website at this time.
One thing that was made mention of in both Jacque's blog and this information to the general members ...
The critical status of membership was a key point in CEO Preziosi’s report to the BOD.
