Acute care
Hospital dictation. See Basic Four below. This is the most difficult transcription due to the complexity of the material and the number of different dictators.

CMT/Certification
Certified Medical Transcriptionist. Not to be confused with the certificate received upon graduation from an MT course. A CMT can only be obtained by testing through AAMT, and has it stands now, after being employed as an MT for two years in acute care or multispecialty clinic.

Coding

Electronic health record/electronic medical record.

Gross line
A method of charging for transcription in which "anything on a line is a line," i.e., regardless of how many characters or if it is a full or partial line.
HIPAA
