This may sound like I'm beating a dead horse, but I need an answer that is not a cut and paste. I am very interested in taking the M-TEC MT course. My only concern at this point is how long is the average time for a graduate to find a job? I know that all the forums and web sites say that the job placement is like 95%. But is that a real number? I have been through too many failed attempts at employment. I have been to 2 schools (for other careers) laid out $10,.000 each and here I am still looking for something that is going to gain me employment upon completion of the course. I have been scammed enough and need a straight answer.
Thank you for your time. I hope to be filling out the application soon if I can get an answer to my question. All my other questions have been answered, just this one remains. Sorry for being long, just have to know.

Well, I can't answer for everyone, but here's my story. I graduated from M-TEC in October 2004. I had about 2 weeks of down time due to the fact that I was so slow in getting my resume together...totally my own fault. After that, I sent out some applications, took a few tests, and was hired by a large national company right away. I was working by the 1st part of December 2004. It is going to vary by person of course. It will depend a lot on you and how aggressively you look for work. If you are open to any job, i.e., IC or employee, full or part time, you are going to have many more options and opportunities to go for.
I can say that M-TEC will help you every step of the way. They also keep up with their grads, and I am confident that the placement percentage they quote is accurate. I have never regretted a penny I spent on my education and feel that I was completely prepared to work. If you haven't done so yet, head on over the M-TEC site and check out the forums there. I'm sure Susan or Kathy would be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the program, and there are tons of happy students there to talk to!
Good luck to you!

I graduated in mid-September 2003. I took 2 weeks "vacation" (actually just regrouping and relaxing at home) and then began testing. I passed every test I took and had several job offers. I started working for a mid-sized company on October 14, 2003, and I'm still with them.
M-TEC is very comprehensive and definitely not easy, but upon graduation one is absolutely prepared for success as a working MT.

I graduated at the end of July 2005. I was officially hired by a national company within two weeks following my graduation, and I began working on August 22.
M-TEC really does give you all the tools you need to succeed, and then some.

I graduated from M-Tec's Premier course last month (mid-February), took a week off to do nothing, and then started looking. I tested for and got a part-time IC position. So, this was roughly one week after graduating. This past Friday, I sent out some e-mails to see if I can add one more IC part-time position, and one has already gotten back to me, and it looks promising.
Of course one can't expect to "roll in the dough" early on in their MT career, but with good training (which I definitely got from M-Tec) and a little hard work and experience, I know I will do very well in this career.

Hi Penny
I see some of our graduates have dropped by to help out. I can guarantee you that any numbers we post for graduate placement are actual. We are approved by our state board of career colleges & schools, which requires us to keep statistics and only advertise accurate information. We are also approved by ACCP, a joint AAMT and AHIMA committee that approves and certifies schools. In that approval process, one of the things that they look closely at is truth in advertising, as well as our standing with the BBB and state board of education. You won't find anything on our website that M-TEC prepared that is not factual.
The truth of the placement matter is that all graduates have individual time frames for completing and finding that perfect job. Some students are able to find work immediately, while others take a few weeks to a few months, depending on their specific needs. Other graduates are scooped up by employers they have been corresponding with, even before graduation.
I would be more than happy to talk with you about anything relating to our course or the profession in general, but I don't visit the forums here as often as I would like. If you want to email me or post on the M-TEC forums at www.mtecinc.com, I can reply more quickly!
I hope this has helped somewhat, but please feel free to notify me if you still have unanswered questions or concerns.

Hi,Phamil. I graduated from M-TEC and got a job with the first company I applied with. I loved M-TEC and my instructor. My sister-in-law also went to M-TEC, and she also had a job almost immmediately. But be ready to work hard, this is not an easy career.

I graduated on March 21st. I spent a few days researching and testing with MT companies, and today I accepted an IC position. I spent a total of 8 days looking for an MT job after graduation. The company I accepted the position with was only the 2nd company I had contacted.

It was 3 weeks from graduation to my start date at my current job, and that was during the holiday season, which is a notoriously bad time to be job hunting. I had 5 offers to choose from. MTEC is the absolute best. A year and a half later, I am actually making great money with full benefits and loving it! I will also say I was a struggling student. My personal life had all kinds of changes in the midst of it all (that of course were not foreseen prior to my taking on such an endeavor), and I have a fairly high level of test anxiety, even on the internet, as it turns out! You are truly prepared well for success at MTEC. I have recommended them to a couple of people who are now students or about to graduate and did so without hesitation.

I actually found a job before I graduated, but I wouldn't get hired by a national until I graduated. I found a great job with a great company about 2 months after I graduated, but that was at the holiday season, and I was being picky. I really wanted ONE company, and they tested me and I passed their most difficult test. It has been 6 months since I started, and I am making a very good wage. My best line count has been 200 lph, but it is usually around 160-180 on the good days.
My supervisor is the greatest, and I have never had anyone even in a bad mood at my job.
You will go far with M-TEC!!

I am obviously months late with this comment, but wanted to say that I graduated from M-TEC in the summer of 2003. I was testing just as everyone was heading off to the AAMT convention and it took me awhile to connect, but I did get 3 job offers and I accepted the third one and was working in September. I'd say it took me about 3-4 months to find something. I'm still working for that same company and have no intention of going anywhere.
