I'm sure there must be some MTs in SC, but I never see any posts.

Hello to all of you out there.

Today was so warm that I almost turned on the air conditioner! I will be ready for the rain and cooler weather predicted for later on in the week. How about the rest of you SC MTs, shall we take back some winter and give the north a break? Then again, if I could actually control the weather, it would be 70 degrees all year round (which is still cooler than today).

Hello to all!

As a Northerner turned Southerner, I am SO glad to see some cooler temps! Even tho our HVAC conked out last week, and they're just now putting a new one in! We lucked out the warmer temps earlier!. But I do love more 'seasonal' weather - must be the Yankee in me, lol!

I am originally from Florida. For the most part, it only seemed to get cold there when a cold front blew through, and of course never hung around very long. I find the summers/fall here more oppressive than in Florida. I've heard that is because the humidity builds and there is no where for it to go, while Florida has tropical breezes to move the air. I'm sure I'll be whining about that come June or so. I'm glad you got your HVAC in, as we are in for a cold snap.

I'm not in SC, but I'm nearby - I'm in Asheville, NC, about 45 minutes from the Greenville/Spartanburg area.

I LOVE Asheville! And further west, Maggie Valley - my place to go when I need to get some peace!

Star, yes, the HVAC got installed just in time for this cold snap! Where in Charleston do you live? We live in Mt. Pleasant, about 4 miles from the ocean, so we do get those breezes!

pippin - I'm a transplanted yankee too - from NY. Did you have to get a green card when you moved here too? LOL.

I got a chuckle out of that greencard question! As a transplanted Floridian, I quickly saw that there were differences between the two areas even though both are technically southern. I prefer SC now. I'm actually in Goose Creek, which borders North Charleston.

Lol, no not a green card, but had to take a course in geneology - as in, 'who's yowh daaaddy?' There's a joke about Charleston - Why are Charlestonians like the Chinese? Because they eat rice and worship their ancestors!!

The weather really is different in GC than right on the coast, even though it's only about 20 miles or so inland. I do think it's muggier there in the summer, and you folks get freezes while we just skirt around it most times.

Hi! I'm located in Leesville-Batesburg ... just SW of Columbia and not far from Aiken. I'm temporarily up in Maryland, though, taking care of my elderly mom, but I go back home every month or so. SC to me really is "Smiling faces, beautiful places!"

Hi Lucy, I know this isn't very timely, but I returned to SC just yesterday, having spent the last couple of months in FL helping my dad and visiting my hospitalized mom. She's been hospitalized since before Christmas and it sure was hard to leave them. I'm so glad you have the ability to go back and forth like that. Do you work when you to to Maryland? With the exception of the first week, I was able to work my accounts while in FL with the use of a router. I left it there in case I need it on a return visit. But still, it sure is nice to be back home in SC.

I REALLY thought I had replied to this earlier but I guess not. Anyway, I am in Ladson, not too far from Goose Creek. What companies do those of you close work with or do you work in-house?

Hey, MidlifeMommy and Pippin,

I want to be a transplant too. I was checking out North Carolina, Asheville, to be exact. It looks like a good spot near the mountains and sounds like a pretty good place. Does it get muggy there? Do you find a big difference in weather from New York? How is the housing and job market? Any MT jobs at hospitals? Thanks!

Hello!

I found this old thread and was wondering if any of the SC MTs who posted here are still around? I see a couple of you are from the Goose Creek area and was hoping for some advice.

I'm a transplanted NYker, having moved to Aiken in November of 2004. I now spend my weekends in North Charleston and will be moving to North Charleston, or a nearby area, permanently this summer. I'll need to rent a house for at least 6 months and possibly longer. Does anyone have suggestions on where to look? I do not have any children, so schools do not have to be a consideration. I would like to live in a quiet neighborhood for the sake of my sanity.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have a great week!

Beth
