I found it interesting in the sidebar that MTDesk was mentioned and recommended, she added a note that she found it difficult to navigate. She also mentioned MTDaily (not by name, only by proclaimed reputation) and the problems that they are having over there since announcing the "registration". Frankly, on the few times that I have stuck my head in over there, I found it extremely confusing and difficult to navigate.Otherwise, I found the article quite interesting, especially the story about the old plumber charging $10,000 to fix an engine in a ship that he fixed by merely banging on it with a hammer. When the ship's owners balked at the charge, reasoning that all he did was hit it with a hammer (when they had others in who worked with it for hours but could not fix it), they requested an itemized bill:
Hitting engine with a hammer: $2
Knowing where to hit it: $9998
We really do ourselves a disservice when we don't figure in the cost of doing business when we accept a line rate. Ever since I incorporated, I find myself paying more attention to the cost of doing business. After paying myself a paltry wage last year, my business only cleared about $400. We really don't pay attention, I think, to the actual cost of doing what we do.
Good article! Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
