Laboratory shows a WBC of 3.2, an H&H of 9.8/3.2, and ferritin count 138,000. (I am not sure if this is correct. It really sounds like further count. Could it possibly be something else?)

I should have told you that the patient has pancreatic cancer, asthma, anemia, edema, cough, chronic yeast infection, reflux, iron deficiency, and pulmonary hypertension.

I think it important to restate that a probable guess, despite being 'probably' correct, is still a guess, and that guesses have no place in a patient's medical record.

H&H of 9.8 and 3.2?? When given this way (H&H), traditionally the first H is hemoglobin--9.8 is a believable low hemoglobin; however, the second H, representing hematocrit, should be approximately THREEE TIMES the hemoglobin value -- so a value of 3.2 is impossible. Guessing 30.2 makes sense but as trops says, is only guessing. And if the H's are reversed, it's just as bad.
I think this whole hematology section needs to be blanked and questioned.

Great catch Ann. I can only claim I was focused on the tree and did not see the forest. Unfortunately, I'd bet this was snatched up and sent in already.

I don't know the spelling or the range of normal for the count, but I recently had a ferritin test as part of my blood work.

It's pretty easy to find on Google (especially for those of us who are MTs?). Just put in "normal values for ferritin"
Normal ferritin values are as follows:
Adult males: 20-300 ng/mL
Adult females: 20-120 ng/mL
Children (one month): 200-600 ng/mL
Children (two to five months): 50-200 ng/mL
Children (six months to 15 years): 7-140 ng/mL
Newborns: 25-200 ng/mL.
