Hello all. I was transcribing a list of current medications for a patient's note today and the doctor very clearly (he actually slowed down and made a point to say it very distinctly) says "fovastatin", emphasys on the "fo" part. I tried everything I could think of from drugs.com and rxlist to google and found nothing (other than the typical web misspellings that mean nothing) about a drug named "fovastatin." The only thing close to I found is Lovastatin and fluvastatin (obviously) but it's the beginning of the word that he very clearly pronounces and he definitely says "fo." I've already sent it in with a flag to the editor, but it's still bugging me after finishing my work for the day. I guess he could have just said it wrong, but this doc doesn't usually make those kind of mistakes. Normally the only time he stresses a pronunciation like that is because a previouis transcriber got it wrong and he's making sure it's understood correctly.

Maybe I'm just too tired and need to go to bed now. G.night.

Just because a doctor says it, does it make it right?

Well, when you put it that way.

Ha! No kidding. I have had docs mispronounce words and demand them be spelled with their misspelling. I swear some just think their masters of the English language and can just make up words as they dictate. . . . .
